Hi everyone,

Just want to find out how is everyone's experience with Telkom Mobile?

It is time to upgrade my wife's phone and I am looking at unlimited minutes packages. We currently on Cell C and was thinking of moving to Telkom Mobile. But not sure if the call quality is good and how reliable the data speed is.

Kindly provide some feedback regarding call quality and data connection.

Thank you.

Test the signal in your area with a prepaid sim card. I use TM for data only, never had a day's issue with them unlike Cell C.

Thank krieg.

We've tested the prepaid sim and all works very well in our area, Chartwell.

Would like to see peoples experience in Gauteng.

I have had plenty of issues with CellC, mostly CellC's coverage seems to have shrunk in the areas I normally need coverage, that means lots of dropped calls and packet loss on the data side. Lately I have to force roaming with my CellC SIM otherwise I get no coverage.

That said, Telkom Mobile also suffers from similar coverage issues in the areas I need coverage. I tend to think I get a better deal with Telkom Mobile (compared to CellC) albeit not as mobile as I would like, more like semi-fixed.

As krieg suggested, get a prepaid SIM and test it thoroughly.

I also suggest that you stay on prepaid and avoid the vicious phone upgrade contract cycle (regardless of network).

Telkom Mobile has competitively priced prepaid combo bundles (voice and data).

Good advice!

We jumped ship last year. Telkom couldn't and/or wouldn't resolve incorrect billing. But then again: this can happen with any other cellular/credit provider. I think your deciding factor should be what Krieg said: signal.
Telkom just doesn't have the coverage, especially when you're on the road!
