Telkom Mobile LTE Blocking POP3 Port 110?

I have two clients who recently signed-up on the Telkom Mobile LTE broadband connections, using the Huawei CPE B593 LTE routers... The browsing speeds are good and overall connectivity is good.

However, there is one MAJOR problem!!!

It seems like Telkom are blocking Port 110 (Email POP3) on their network, because my clients are unable to download their email from my POP3 server using Microsoft Outlook, on their custom domains - i.e. companyname.co.za

Port 25 (SMTP) seems to be open, but Port 587 (alternate to SMTP) is also blocked.

When I "telnet mail.companyname.co.za 110" it fails to establish a connection to the server.

If I change the client's internet connectivity to something else, like back to their old ADSL connection, then everything works normally again.

It seems like Telkom are blocking Port 110 on their network and this is a big problem! How are people supposed to download their email?!?

Any known solutions?

Thanks.

Does the client service provider support IMAP?

Otherwise speak to Telkom.

Hi folks, the issue has now been resolved. Please don't worry about it any more...

To fix the problem, you need to login to the Huawei B593 LTE Router and go to the 'Security Settings' menu - and change the Firewall Level from High to something lower, like Medium or Low. Then save the settings by clicking Submit.

The problem was on the LTE Router itself - the firewall settings were too high and were blocking important Port Numbers.

Telkom will have a lot of calls about this, surely!
