Telkom Mobile LTE on LG G3

Hi All

I am very curious if Telkom Mobile LTE will work on the LG G3.

Telkom states their LTE only works on 2300 Band devices thats not usually used in phones

According to GSMArena the LG G3 D855 (Which is the EU version that ships to SA and that we get here locally) supports the 2300 Band 40 LTE band

Has someone tested this?

Cell C was here today at my office. They are cancelling my contract it seems as their network is non existent where I work in Rosebank.

So as soon as that happens I am porting to Telkom Mobile. Only issue now is no LTE on the Note3 as it dont have the 2300 band so when someone can confirm if it picks up LTE I might just buy a G3

So I asked the Telkom Grand-master if its supported and the response is somewhat expected. Since Telkom dont sell the G3 they don't know........

So could someone with a G3 please just test it?

Ah, damn. I assume you're going to buy the phone outright (as opposed to contract), so why don't you buy it, then get yourself a prepaid TM sim. Then tell me if it works

Lol ... I have someone on another forum that has a G3 on MTN contract and he said he will see if he can go get a pay as you go this weekend to test. So hopefull he gets back to me. Will let you know

Oh cool, thanks. Just as a side note, one of my colleagues got the G3 yesterday, so I got to play with it a bit. Awesome screen but a little bit laggy which annoyed me a bit. Maybe a software update will fix that

Get a telkom sim and pop it in and test it. Sure he wont mind if you quickly just test if it gets LTE?

Ok so I got someone to get a sim and test it on his G3. Works like a charm.
So its confirmed that the G3 support the Telkom Mobile LTE band and works 100%

From what I've seen, the G3 has good deals on contract, on most networks. Haven't dealt with orange myself, but I know they're reputable and uphold warranty (I think). Another guy on here got a faulty unit and they replaced it for him

Yea just read that as well. When I make a call now on my CellC while in call I dont get any data. So wondering if the same applies that when making calls you have no data or visa versa

I am on Telkom Mobile, 4G Lte available on my LG G3. As per the attached pic.
