Telkom mobile LTE on mobile phones

Hi

I have a Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 running on a Telkom mobile data contract. I was once told that the samsung LTE isn't on the same frequency as the Telkom mobile LTE and when I diid the research I found it to be true. Anyone know why Telkom mobile would run on frequencies that cant be accessed by the phones being imported into the country? Doesnt make any sense to me.

They run at 2300mhz according to their website. Not even the S5 has that. Better speeds can't help us if we can't access LTE. Or am I missing something?

Have the same problem.
I went to a store and was told they don't have any phones working on their LTE network.
You need to buy a modem.
Useless with any new smartphone.

Sony and Samsung don't seem to do TDD 2300MHz - the frequency that Telkom Mobile uses.

Most practical phone for Android must be the LG G3.

I see that you get a LG G3 D858, which is a dual sim and this does TDD 2300MHz, so would work with Telkom Mobile LTE.

This would be my phone of choice for this application.

I can't see why not. But I can't confirm, because I'm on the Smartplan 100 contract

There still seem to be very few phones available here that work on the LTE 2300Mhz band.
What would be the best option to look at?

Do a GSMArena search for that LTE Band and GSM 3G bands (otherwise you will also be shown US only CDMA devices)

It has to do with Telkom having access to the 2300 band spectrum from their Microwave links so they deployed their TD-LTE network in that band.

My Meizu M2 Note works very well with Telkom TD-LTE

I bought the Meizu M2 Note for R2700.00 and it has a 5" full HD screen and works well on Telkom TD-LTE. Great phone for the price.
