Ive just had a terrible thought. Please clarify something for me: when Telkom say you get a free modem for signing a 24month contract what contract are they talking about? Do they mean that you will keep the ADSL line for 24months or that they will be your service provider for 24 months???

u keep the line for 24 months. rather get ur own modem though, dont get tied into a 2 year contract with telkom. that way u can switch to SNO when they finally arrive

Its your ADSL line rental that you can sign the contract on. It's not worth it though ... modems are cheap, and when the SNO comes in to effect, you don't want to have any contract with Telkom ... especially when you see the penalties associated with cancelling your contract with them. IMO - rather spend the money on a modem.

the sno will only be fully functional in like 2 years anyways

Thanks man, bit late though, im already in month4 or 5. Just thought for a second that maybe i had been paying them to be my isp for the last couple of months without using them and worse that i might not have been able to change isps.

Pity about the whole SNO thing but I only found out about Telkom ripping us a new one, and this website AFTER i got ADSL. At least they haven't been siphoning any more money out of me without my knowledge.

i got a telkom modem, it really isnt as bad as everybody says...
ive had no problems so far

rburley the modem is ok, but the part about being tied into a contract with telkom is the sad part
