Yesterday Telkom called to say they will be stopping my copper landline service in 30 days, and moving me to a wireless service.apparently due to copper theft.
Is this a hoax ?

Yes the most reliable will probably be with a VOX SIP account, doesn't cost much and calls are dirt cheap on it too, they have an app that you can install on your phone to get it to work, basically they port your telkom number to a virtual one that can be used via VOIP phones or the app.Ok, well I told them to shove it , I really don’t need a landline.
Although I could do with a landline number that redirects to my cell.
Anyone know if there is a service like that in SA?
I know bitco offers voip services. I don't know if only for big businesses or also smaller/at home needsLooks like Skype could also be an option
Edit : Skype is $6.50 pm for a local number
Nope. Been the strategy since 2008 I believe.
