I noticed that my fibre line is still running at 40mbps and 20mbps upload. Prior to that I had the old 20mbps HomeUnlimited package at R999 month to month. The upload speed seems to be the same as download speed on Telkom new packages?

Telkom Website shows options for 20up and 20 down “Home Unlimited Premium” at R849

Also a 20 up and 20 Down standard package at R699 but it says there is possible shaping and AUP between 18:00-23:00 and no mobile data sim card included.
Does anyone know what the story is with these new packages and speed options? And what is the future of the free speed upgrades are?

MyBroadband?? Where is your article about this?

So the 40/20 has changed to the 50/25. Openserve will likely start changing clients over to this speed soon. As for the symmetrical speeds on the 10 and 20 line speed those changes will also happen soon. Right now if you regrade the line to one of these line speeds the new speeds will kick in.

Thanks for that. So currently I am paying the same price as before for the original 20mbps package prior to lockdown.

They moved me to 40/20 as part of the promotion. Will they now move me to 50/25 automatically at the same price? or will they downgrade me back to 20/20 at R849 a month?

I think Telkom is best suited to answer that question.

For now on Afrihost we keeping the price of the 50/25 the same for now since now everyone is on the new speeds. Once the price changes we will obviously notify our clients but for now those that upgraded to the 40/20 from the 31st on our side will be on the 50/25 speeds.

Interesting, I was wondering why my 20/10 is 20/20.
What are all the new packages?
