Telkom Phone Line

Hi Guys,

I have a landline jack in my flat.

What do I need to take to Telkom to get this line activated?

Salary slip, proof of residence? What exactly is needed. I can't get hold of my closest Telkom direct store - they simply don't answer the phone...

I will also order Telkom closer 1 to skip the installation fee's.

Any advice?

I'm in the same boat as you. I still haven't ordered the install yet (my line is far too old) but here's what you should do:

Sign up for Closer 2, which nulls your installation fee and gives you unlimited calls (1 hour each call) after 8pm per month.

A consultant will call you back if you provide your details there. For the actual sign-up, you need a copy of your ID, and something else that I can't remember now. Are you signing up for ADSL as well?

It will be purely for ADSL purposes yes. I hate how they make you take the voice part...

The Telkom shop close to me never answers the phone... I guess I'll have to to call 10219 or some such and find out what I need.
