Hi everyone,

I am trying to find out if it is possible to detect who is phoning me on a landline. My problem is that I don't know if Telkom uses DTMF dialing or FSK data sending to get or receive the number. Does anyone here know?

BTW if this is in the wrong thread, I apologize (but I couldn't see where else to put it :()

I'm not sure which standard they use, but, you have to ask Telkom to enable the caller-id service on your line, and they charge you something like R12 for the privilege.

Telkom uses ETSI standards for CLI.

The European Telecommunications Standards Institute's (ETSI) standard (ETS 300 659-1 and -2, and ES 200 778-1 and -2, the latter replacing ETS 300 778-1 & -2)

This is also specified in ICASA DPT-TE-010 "FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ANALOGUE CALLING LINE IDENTIFICATION (CLI) CUSTOMER PREMISES EQUIPMENT (CPE)" ICASA TE-010 Document
