Just heard from a friend who wants to get ADSL who called X-DSL that Telkom will be RAISING their prices for this year! WTF!!!!!!?????!!!!!!

Please tell me this is bulsh!t? XDSL had the cheapest account offering (R215) but now they are going up to R245 or something like that because of telkoms price up!

Please comment!

I'm paying R249 for the 3gb account, and I read somewhere that Telscum is taking flak because they aren't changing their prices on adsl this year (hopefully upping prices count as changing in their books)

I didn't hear about an increase in Telkoms ISP charges, but I do know that the line rental has increased. The ADSL rental remains the same however.

Here's the ISP and Rental costs :-

Here's the new tarrifs for 2005 :-

http://www.telkom.co.za/pls/portal/docs/page/news/Telkomtariffs2005.pdf

Assuming you go for the 384 connection and only use the line for ADSL and have no other services, your monthly bill for 2005 should be R785.05

If your on the 512, it will be R1016.05 all inclusive.

Which ever way you look at it, that's pretty damn expensive ! ;)

Ok.. it seems the isp and line rental cost is the only ones increasing (according to the pdf on tarrifs.) The homedsl rental doesn't change!

NOW! This is really really fcuked up! REALLY! Rather than making their prices more competitive, they go and up it! I hope they burn up and die! I think we should smoke them as much as we can. They steel from us so we should steel from them! A eye for a eye!

This p!ss3s me of really bad!
Well, what can we do but take it up the tailpipe!
Thanks for the comments!

Afaik the voice charge (line rental) are going up but the DSL and ISP charges stays the same unless SAIX raised their connectivity prices for their "virtual" ISP's or XDSL discovered that charging R215 ain't such a good idea for their bottom line.

This is why I decided to get iBurst @ R700 per month for up to 1Mbps download speed, even with all the teething problems on iBurst I am still better off when WBS officialy launch iBurst in April 2005.

At least I am only paying R454 per month until end of March, but I still have an ISDN2a line which Telkom are milking me on.
