I see that Telkom has a promotion going on the EEE:
Asus 701CW
R121.01 x 36
R165.72 x 24
R301.63 x 12
R574.78 x 6
R3256.13 cash

Asus 904HD
R176.62 x 36
R241.88 x 24
R440.23 x 12
R838.90 x 6
R4752.38 cash

Both with WinXP.

Is this worth it? I'm seriously looking at the 904HD, what I would like it to do is stream some media (movies, etc.) and use it to maintain some other Linux PC's.

What do the people in the know say, worth it?

I've got the Asus eee for my fiance... she loves it but complains every now and then because of its limitations and she only use it for mail and internet... Thinking of getting something a tad bigger for her now... just my 2c

I have an eee 1000h, really great machine, running windows 7 and xp at the moment without any issues so far.

I saw a post that expansys are selling the Acer Aspire A150's for approx R2200, if you gonna get an Acer aspire, dont bother with the A110 R1999 from IC, its got an SSD and very little ram, go for the A150.

To answer the op's question, i think the netbooks are worth it, but given the above prices, for the Acer netbooks, why take out a contract with telkom to get one, when you can buy the units for cash for quite cheap.

The price is not just for the netbook, it includes the dongle and other stuff as well...

But yes, I could also get it cheaper from a dealer!

You got a link to that deal?

Nope, not this special, no data bundle, only the netbook.

But the original question remain, can it do media streaming? No use in getting something if it can only do websurfing.
