If you go to:
http://www.itweb.co.za/sections/Telecoms/default.asp

There is a sponsored Telkom message. It reads as follows:

"Telkom remains one of the strongest leading brands in SA. In the latest Markinor/Sunday Times Top Brands survey, it was rated tops in the telecommunications providers category, second among companies that have done the most community upliftment work, and retained its position as the second most admired brand after Coca-Cola."

Really? Why are you the strongest brand?

Well, having a monopoly makes you the king of the playground and as soon as one of the other children try to join your game you legally bully them out of the game. Well, you have the right to do so, but who do you have to thank for that?

Top Brand? Well, last time I checked a state owned company is not supposed to make profit in a democratic country. Now it's being privatised but that makes it even worse because there are nobody else to compete with. Now your game is ultimately to milk the public. To be able to milk the public on the scale your are doing you will definately need a really good name.

"second among companies that have done the most community upliftment work, and retained its position as the second most admired brand after Coca-Cola."

To be able to do this you should surely have a lot of cash to throw around. Instead of throwing around cash like this, try to improve your ADSL service and make your services more affordable. Your services are the most expensive in the world?!@?#

My 2 cents.
