Hi Guys

Just wanted your opinion on which package would suit my needs.

Telkom have this package:
For R369 per month, Telkom SIMPLE includes:
DSL up to 384kBps
1GB blended data PLUS 10GB local data allowance per month (to be used once blended once blended data allowance is depleted)
Use the internet and make phone calls at the same time
Landline rental included
Free landline calls - evening and weekends calls (up to an hour per call)
Free landline and internet installation
Free 3GB email account

384K adsl line cost - R152
analogue line costs - R131
equals to R283
R369 - R283 = R86 difference and you basically gets 1GB plus 10GB local cap.Plus you get free calls day and night.damn thats a good deal.was looking at this, but i need about 30GB-50GB p/m for downloads.i am looking at buying cap from isps or topup.which isp is the cheapest for international cap and how much bandwith can i get.

Otherwise i am going to mweb.

Let me know guys
Thanks

I Have been with Mweb 384 Uncapped for a couple of months now, i have had no problems except incomplete down loads which after a phone call to support has been fixed.
Happy = Yes
But on the other hand 30 - 50GB is alot of data for a 384 line. ok so i pay +-R171.00 more a month it beats worrying if i am going to go over my limit every month.

Stevie G: If you (or your family) plan on making plenty of Telkom-to-Telkom calls then it is not a bad idea to take this deal and then to supplement it with a package from another ISP such as Mweb, Openweb, Afrihost, etc., as I have done.

Note that it EXCLUDES calls to cellphones and other operators and international calls.

Also remember that this package was aimed squarely at attracting new ADSL members or for those wanting to convert from dial-up to ADSL.

If you want to the free* off-peak landline calls thing just get Closer 2 and the ADSL line from Telkom, total R322 per month (R170 + R152). This will save you paying R47 extra fpr bandwidth you may not use. Then get whichever ISP you choose.

* Upto 1 hour per call.

EDIT: Suppose you also get free installation but at R564 extra per year, will probably get it cheaper if you paid up-front.

which isp is the cheapest for international cap and how much bandwith can i get.

Search the forums, that's quite a loaded question.

I should have added:

1. Aimed at the "moms and pops"
2. without paying the installation charges (or knowing how to circumvent them).

Nah, just go direct or get closer 1 if they still offer it. Then get Afrihost 50% off offer before end september and then get 50gig gold account. Prob your cheapest bet.
