Telkom please please please read the following:

http://cooltech.iafrica.com/press/179703.htm

and you will not call us a minority anymore.

People are starting to wake up and realise what you are doing.

The best would be to admit you are wrong and get out of this without losing too much face.

Excellent read. Thanks for the link. This is just the beginning. But it's good to see the ball is rolling and we will see Telkom forced to make the necessary changes.

United we stand!

The problem is TELKOM only wants to make money. TELKOM and ICASA working hand in hand. Have ICASA approved any other ADSL modems? apart from TELKOM's crap over priced ones?

btw they dropped the price of their USB one to about R 1500 (still a rip off)

One day we'll be telling our children and grandchildren about our part in the Great Deregulation War and how they should be thankful for their ADSL only costing them R250 a month [8D]

Hi Bullstein

Thank you for the great article. I included it in our news section.

If anybody ever finds articles about ADSL in South Africa please follow this example. The news section needs to grow as well :-)

Great link - thank you,

There is no doubt that we are not a minority.

I still want to know how we are misinformed ??

The momentum is now rolling and I agree with the
comments that if Telkom do not move quickly to fix
their blunder on ADSL it could become very costly
not only for them but increasingly costly for our country.

I have no doubt that government is watching this forum
and it is only a matter of time before pressure from that
side will come to bear upon Telkom.

I have noted an increasingly determined attitude from
members - we must all keep the pressure up.
We don't want the "Berlin wall" to fall , we just want
Telkom to break down their wall in an orderly fashion
and become part of the real IT world.
Hell, we have skills equal to the best, why must
we be throttled by the carrier ??

Well done myadsl members !! [8D] [8D] [8D]

EXCELLENT point Microfast - we have good intellectual skills in this country - we can compete internationally - it's the carrier that is killing the industry...

"The Great Deregulation War has begun! For the good of our country & people Join the fight NOW! Let your voice be heard!"

"South Africa, which only recently introduced ADSL solutions and does not have a cable connectivity competitor, does not even appear on the list" - LOL.

I am pleased to add a little input having just joined your excellent forum...
I don't have an ADSL connection because as a retired person I can't afford the criminal rip-off charge that Telkom has imposed on it's subscribers...

I recently made a long awaited trip to visit family in the UK...

It would seem that there are some 15 companies offering ADSL including modem and connection for around 20 UK pounds per month. Still most people take advantage of Unmetered Dial Up. One of our relatives was paying 5 pounds per month for unmetered access...

Now I would suggest that, as the UK has probably the highest cost of living in the world, that unless the running costs of Telkom are some 3 times that of the telcom services in the UK the they must be a bunch of crooks....

Telkom's promotion of the use of 'callmore' time does nothing but to increase their income; IE the more people on line slows down the system and so they make more money.

I shall watch your efforts with great interest.....

Thank you for joining Webgaffer. Welcome to our forum.

We hope not to dissapoint your interest. In the long run it will surely be worth it.
