So the ISPs haven't had a large amount of time to react to the new Telkom prices... but I thought I'd ask anyway :p

How will the changes affect ISPs like WebAfrica? I don't think bandwidth costs have come down, but surely the price of their Complete package should be reduced?

Any idea when we might start seeing the new prices, if any?

If you read the articles you would have seen that the new prices will come into effect on 1 August 2007:p

Check the news section.. lots of info there

Believe me, I've been reading the news section all morning!

I know when *Telkom's* new pricing comes into effect. What I'm wondering is when/if the *ISP's* will drop their pricing.

I would guess that an ISP like WebAfrica would be able to drop their data rates down from the current R70/GB to about R50/GB.

 How do you guess this?

Sorry Turbo Aspiration - must get my brain in gear before I post next time.
DSL 384 Kbps line rental is coming down by R93 but DoBroadband 384 Kbps package (line rental + 1 GB) is only coming down by R80. Meaning 1 GB on this package has gone up by R13. Confused? So am I.

I would guess that the per gig pricing won't change - only those ISPs offering a 'complete' package would be able to reduce prices (since the reduction's only on the line rental).

My maths is giving me a headache. I know that the only published reduction is on the line rental but DoBroadband's pricing structure is confusing me. On their 384 Kbps 2MB package, their price is dropping from R364 to R258. Take the new line rental of R152 off that and they are giving you 2 GBs of data for R106 or R53/GB. Before DoBroadband came on the scene with it's combined package, 2 GB from TelkomInternet was costing R199. Then it came down in April to R149, and now, on the 1st August, with a DoBroadband package the 2 GB component is R106. I don't understand why the package should be R43 cheaper than the individual components. I am on DoBroadband now but I still cannot understand why I wasn't automatically converted. Line rental + ISP from the same company and two different sets of prices:confused::confused:

That's Telkom for you - Confuse and Conquer :-)

We will only see reactions from ISP after the ICASA approval on Telkom's new rates.
