I have/had the 20+20gb data contract, which I do not need anymore since I finally got fibre.
I went on the 1st of September to Telkom shop in Brooklyn Mall to cancel, took about 30-40 minutes, filling in forms, guy filling in forms on the PC, etc.
End of September, I get billed and the money goes off my account. So the 6th of October I went back to the shop, same guy assisted me, he called their head office (I assume) and talked for about 20 minutes, and I got the idea the guy at the other end of the line did not want to cancel my contract, like they refuse to let a customer go.

So what now, what can I do from my side, as losing my temper and swearing every telkom person will probably do me no good?

TL;DR - telkom is still the ultimate con when it comes to telecommunications! Stay Away!

Cancelled my Telkom connection about a month before I left SA - timing was a bit off, so I had like 4 days with no internet before I left. Had multiple confirmations (in writing) that the service was paid up and cancelled.

2 years later and I'm still receiving letters of demand at my forwarding address...

Just yesterday I was pondering what I would do in this instance.

I concluded that my likely solution would be to stop the contract by means of changing it to a prepaid SIM. Telkom seemingly has no issue chancing ones plans when on month to month to other plans, so I'd stop that data package and make it a prepaid SIM and then not use it and it would die it's natural death that way when they recycle it.
