Telkom + Restrictions

Hey guys,

I need some help.

My current ISP is Skytec and for a couple of months now I haven't been able to use my internet. It only works from 8pm onwards and over weekends. I phoned my ISP and they said that telkom have put restrictions on. Is telkom actually allowed to do that??? I mean, I'm paying for my line yet it never works!!!
 
EDIT: Umm, sorry - I assumed you were using ADSL, so the below is not applicable. But I am still sceptical about Telkom only allowing Internet usage at specified times...?


That is the biggest load of crap I have heard in a long time.

Can you clarify what you mean by not being able to use it? Absolutely NOTHING loads (e.g. not even www.telkom.co.za)? Is your line definitely connected (synched) at the times it is not working?

I suggest you get some prepaid bandwidth from WebAfrica or Axxess and confirm that it is an ISP issue. Then, dump Skytec as fast as you can.

Tell me are u using there wireless service or there adsl service?
Also did u speak to Leon or to the lady?

ROFL there website is still not updated after almost 3 years.

There are many ISP's that allow you a test account for a few hours, all the mayor ISP's will have this, so just ask for a test account and test?
 
Yup im using the wireless and i've spoken to all of them.

Since that is uncapped and there should be no restrictions u can take them to court since why is it that it says uncapped when u clearly being capped.

There wireless services was okay but !@#$% sometimes they really just **** me off. Do they ever respond to your email?

I would also tell u to get an adsl line and get a diffrent ISP who actually is something worth.
He is one person trying to handle everything and clearly its not working...:rolleyes: The email and phoning him is the worst ever. And all that giberish he spats out OMW!~!!!:sick:

LMAO CrzWaco i know man! They never reply which makes me wonder if they are actually going out of business like some people say!? Oh and just btw it only works from 8pm - 9pm now.

I'm going to try get a new ISP (sigh), maybe Performance Pc? R250 for 3 gig cap and its wireless like Skytec so you don't have to pay for a telkom line. Sounds reasonable and people say that they don't have any problems with it.
 
lol, i doubt they are going out of business, but why dont u just bench ur line on a speedtest. besides 3 gig's can go quickly, well atleast for me so depending on what u wanna do with ur line is all up to u. test ur line here. http://www.speedtest.net/
