Good Evening All~

Im posting on behalf of my Dad, He ordered a 40" Samsung Smart TV that costs R386 p/m with 0% Interest at Telkom 2 weeks ago, filled in all paperwork and everything. So he got a call last week Friday regarding that his application got semi-approved, meaning he has to pay R700 + 30% of the TV's price so that the application can get approved and he can get the TV, So he told the lady that it is fine, he will pay that cash, but he just wanted to know the full price of the TV itself, she said she will call him back later. 2 hours later she calls back, and tells me father that the application got denied by the Branch manager of the telkom store, and won't even be able to get the TV if he paid the R700 + 30% fee.

So, can the actual Branch Manager actually deny the whole application? As I can recall, there are some companys that if your credit record isnt that good, you have to pay a certain amount of cash upfront to get the product. So we couldve paid the money upfront to get the TV, so my father complained about the manager just denying the application like that, and Telkom told him its "under investigation" and yet we havent recieved any phone calls yet regarding this issue. We also filed a complaint on Hello Peter about this, but also we have not recieved any phone calls.

So just trying to get help, if their is a telkom rep on MYBB or if anyone else can help me and give me directions on where to go about this issue.

Thanks.

Sorry if this doesnt help but, why doesnt your dad save and wait for christmas specials? I understand if the current tv is borked, but if not,, im sure you could find a decent Samsung these holidays :-)

Yea true, but considering my father has been a loyal customer for 25 years and the fact that it got declined after it was actually been approved, is troubling me.

Unless your dads credit record has recently taken a huge nosedive, I dont see why they would decline it, someone may have just made an error.

I have never owned (nor do I) a credit card, when I went a signed up for my internet at Telkom all they did was use my debit card to check my credit record, apparently it was really good and I didnt have to pay a fee to signup :)

Yea, we used to get laptop contracts from Telkom so easily in the past, now they actually do check the credit record, but my fathers one is quite clean, it wasnt high enough for the TV offer though (As it needed to be ultra clean basically) But as the woman said on the phone, it was semi-approved, just needed to pay a deposit fee to get it. But father will call Telkom tomorrow to see where this so called "investigation" went too.
