Lol, Reynecke has just had his cadre ship sins washed away? I thought they were all cadres by merely being at an SOE or SOC?
Oh no he's a cadre too. Just saying, so's she lol.

You just said he is the qualified person and the other one is a cadre? They both look very qualified to me, is there something you wanted to say that you are afraid to, feel free, it's a safe space here.

Also, as a publicly traded company like Telkom, why is a SOE cadre being picked over any private sector person? What political interference has been brought to bear to make this happen?
We'll never know if there's been political interference. But the appointment of an SOE exec could simply be explained as a transition from public sector to private sector...

I am wondering why it would need to be explained in the first place, I mean people move between the private and public sector all the time, I have never seen any entity having to explain themselves over it, simply because there is no reason to, she is a qualified Chartered Accountant, with the required experience, not like she needs extra accreditation to move into the private sector. Standard bank did not offer any explanation when they got in Fuzile as a CEO of their SBSA from Treasury.

We'll never know for definite of course, but its almost a given that there has been. There is no way a properly functioning private entity would touch a CFO of a company that has performed so poorly over the last 2 years.

Yeah I know there's a stigma attached to people coming in from SOEs, but maybe it was beyond her best efforts and she's trying to bail ASAP, realising that it's a career-killer if she stays any longer.

Maybe in her mind, if she can prove herself at Telkom, it opens up a way into the actual private sector, free from any government involvement. And she would have been one of the fortunate ones to have escaped.

You do have to feel for some people stuck in public service, with no way out due to the stigma attached. Not saying this applies to her, but it's hard to make a call without giving her a fair shot for a year or two. And perhaps the board sees it the same way. I mean it's the same board that's been in place for a while, so why would they suddenly push for a cadre out of the blue...

There are plenty executives who have had a less than stellar performance at one entity and went on to have a decent tenure at another. Refusing to acknowledge the complexities of working in such environments and simply declaring people incompetent is the most simple way of judging people.

Reyneke surname - competent
Dlamini surname - incompetent

Simple tribal minds.

Exactly, just too shy to say it out loud.
Odd thing is that Telkom has been sinking deeper and deeper into trouble with the competent one who is not a cadre in charge.

The non-cadre one was probably busy writing a book. I don't see any other explanation.
