Ordered ASDL from Telkom (without modem - own modem) 4 Sept 2005 - Installation date 9 November 2005!!!.
Anyone top this? . Lets have a competition.
The winner will receive a "free" modem from Telkom (Terms and conditions apply!!):D

(Only joking about the Prize);)

Seriously is somebody (other than Telkom) gathering stats on Telkom's service delivery (if one can call it that).

Well, I ordered on 19 October. I need to have my phone line reconnected first ("11 working days" to SCHEDULE), which will problably hold things up, then I'm planning on going the "self-install" route. Will post again as soon as I'm hooked up.

When I bought my current house, the previous owners had ADSL. I applied (in march) and finally got installation in September. Must be a record.

Not on ADSL yet, but, talking about teklom service: for the transfer of a simple telephone line, to a property in an old neighbourhood (with lines and everything already in place to all properties) it took teklom 21 days to activate it!

Got a call yesterday evening from teklom marketing campaign, asking about the service experience with the new installation. Really enjoyed myself while giving them a piece of my mind! :D They'll have some warm ears when listening to the tape, or reading the transcript! :D Funny thing was, at the end of the call, the chappie doing the investigation actually thanked me for my honesty! Apparantly he doesn't get many honest replies... So, if they phone any of you as well, please speak your mind, and bugger who is on the other side of the line! Make them sweat.

I ordered ADSL on 26 September. Still waiting for the installation date to be issued. Goodness knows when this is going to be.

I tried the "self install route" but was told that is in "testing phase in certain centers only" and not yet available (loss of R404?????) Anywar R404 is a rip-off, to install two micro filters- I have my own modem did not want to be tied into a contract (Read dead albatross around your neck) :(

Ordered on 27 September and installation date given for 1 November - 34 days with weekends...should be 2 days max!

Wish we had self-install in KZN. The rubbish story I got was that we are not a high demand ADSL area, so there is not that much of a backlog. Self-install was initiated to reduce the backlog in other areas. Also, in those areas with self-install, Telbomb have "backup technicians" contracted if the customer needs help. I told him I won't need any help - just let me do it!! How dare they discriminate against us Indian Ocean folk!

Anyhow - will see what happens on 1 November with the installation...

I had a friend that work(ed) for them...i dont know if he is still there...anyways... he spent most of his time at work sleeping under his desk. Pity about the lack of job security at Telkom...cause i would LOVE a job like that.
