Hey guys I've just signed up for this deal today it's a 20GB softcap and free night surfer so the guy who signed up for me said to me that my night will also be 20GB but I've just read the terms and conditions on that deal on the telkom website it states "once the softcap limit is reached the night surfer services will also be subject to softcap" so I'm abit confused to my knowledge this means that as long as I don't finish my 20GB day softcap my night surfer will be unlimited at full speeds? Was that what the guy was trying to tell me? Do u think my night surfer will be unlimited only if I don't reach that day cap? Cheers

Basically only download LARGE files at night surfer time so you don't get soft capped. There is NO limit for night surfer on how much you can download HOWEVER if you use all 20GB outside night surfer time then restrictions apply.

Night surfer time is 12am - 7am daily and no data is reduced from your 20GB.

May I ask, the guys with a 4mb telkom line what's your experience? What speeds (kbps) do u normally get with the line also how's your ping rates? I'm going to be doing a lot of gaming aswell.

Better than afrihost capped and fnb uncapped. The speed is typically 90% of line speed. Low ping times. Have used many ISp's over the years. TI had a bad patch, but are good at the moment

The speed you will get will largely depend on the congestion at your exchange.

What do u mean by congestion at my exchange? Sorry I'm a noob lol its going to be my 1st time ever using Adsl I've been a 3G user for years. What speeds do u normally get on your 4mb line? In kbps

As I said, about 90% so always upward of 3.5 Mbps.

Basically If the local exchange is congested there are too many clients and not enough data available, so everyone has a *** connection. Its an infrastructure thing and so doesn't matter who your ISP is, your connection will be bad

Hmmm I see.. I'm with u now anyway can't wait to get connected

If you happen to hit your softcap you can always just do a top up of even 1GB to give you full speed again.

With 4Mbps line you can expect 3.45Mbps connection speed with a download speed of 430KB/s.

Upload speed should be 512k upload with a upload speed of about 50KB/s

Depends largely on your'e exchange and distance to the server, though you should get about 200ms ping to EUW and under 50ms to local servers.

On my Adsl Line I get 180-195 ms ping to EUW servers on a certain ISP but most other ISP's I get anywhere from 200-240ms.

Locally I get under 20ms usually.

Yes :) 430kbps is good! I'd be happy with that speed

With 3G I used to get a 800-1000 ms ping to EU servers :D so I can just imagine how much better my gaming experience is going to be!
