So I've got a peculiar problem that I just can't get resolved with Telkom with regard to the site address they have on record for my house. The problem is that years ago in my area in Cape Town there were no street numbers. All houses were referred to by their erf numbers. So your address would be Erf 1234 Main Street. Then about 10 years ago every house was allocated a street number. The number allocated to your house was obviously completely different to the erf number, and worked exactly as you would expect street numbers to work, i.e. all even numbers on one side of the street, all odd numbers on the opposite side, and starting 1 at the beginning of street.

Now the problem is that Telkom still has my address in their system using its erf number, except the word "Erf" is not in their system. So my erf number is 65 but my street number is 32, and in their system they have my address as 65 Some Street (without the word erf), and not 32 Some Street. As you can imagine this has resulted in a lot of confusion whenever I've had to get a technician out because they always go to the real 65 Some Street, and not 32 Some Street.

I've tried calling the call centre a few times to change the site address, but the call centre operators do not have the power to change the actual site address. They only have the power to change the billing address of an account.

Does anyone know how to get this resolved? I'm not the only one in my area who has this problem. And to make it even more confusing, every house built in my area after the street number allocation 10 years ago is correctly in Telkom's system using the street number. So we've got a situation in my area where half the houses are in Telkom system with their erf numbers being used as street numbers, and the other half correctly using the street numbers.
