I renewed my SmartPlan 100 contract this past Saturday, opting not to go with FreeMe since the 1GB data does not carry over the same way as the SmartPlan data does (1-month). The August Telkom brochure as well as the website noted that the Smartplan 100 package comes with 150MB data as well as an additional 1GB data.

Subsequent to renewing, I notice the website has updated, removing the 1GB from the list of features and I now see that there is no reoccurring 1GB data plan loaded on my profile. I have a screenshot of the page from Saturday as well as the booklet stipulating the 1GB additional data. What options can I peruse here?

Chances are that the T&Cs state that they can update and change sh*t as they deem fit without notice. Have a look @ the finer print. If not, take them book and get you data back.

Can one just let the contract run month to month as is without renewing?

You can. All they (all Cell Carriers) will do is add your complimentary/free items on the bill as chargeable every month.

Just thinking I may let mine run month to month until something better comes along. Really sucks that it went from 5GB to 2GB to 1GB and now this.

I'm in the exact same boat as you, ported from Cell C to Telkom last week and chose this plan instead of the Freeme because of the free data! I now have a fight on my hands, but I do intend to fight it! 150mb a month is useless to me!

I am still between a rock and a hard place to cancel or move to FreeMe. Adding 2GB of normal data onto SmartPlan 100 for R139 that expires after a calendar month could give you you 2 months use, over R149 2GB FreeMe boost that lasts 31 days.

R238 (R99 + R139) for 100 minutes and 2GB of data is hard to beat unless you can dual-SIM it with CellC 66C and Axxess Data.

I'm on contract. They do have reoccuring data bundles, 1GB is R99. I don't see why I should have to pay another R100 though. I have sent an email to the marketing executive manager demanding to know the exact date they updated their system and removed the free data. It took them 4 days to port my number, I bet you anything it was in those 4 days. I shall fight this all the way!
