How long does this generally take to receive an SMS confirming my application like get a reference number or something?

Its been 6 days now and I still have not received any reference.

Calling is of no help they just say I must wait.

This for a new account and line installation.

It's a matter of luck , sometimes a few hours , sometimes days.
I personally received my notification within hours.
You best go into a telkom store for assistance
 
Fck me. Why they cannot do this online is beyond me.

I followed up on a reference I got, and was told my ticket was closed by the system. Had to create a new one, now constantly phoning every second day. They can't give me an ETA as the engineers for the line installs are on holiday.

I asked then to find my application as I was convinced it wasn't filed.

Waited a considerable amount of time the lady showed up with my application and reassured me it will be filed.

Was the told if I do not receive an SMS tomorrow it will take up to 3 weeks.

Fck I wish STT/DFA was more on the ball and fast forwarded the fiber applications to our complex the installation is done but they do not want to push the body corporate
 
I completed a line application mid November and queried with them daily.
Eventually the consultant tells me that nothing was loaded(after two weeks of back and forth).

Went to the store and had to do the application again!! this time a actually watched how the consultant did the application and as soon as she was done, i got an sms.

BUT, once you receive your sms and appointment, do not think you all set. I had my line installation appointment delayed again!!!

****, Telkom is useless!
