Telkom SMS to Port in

So Telkom finally decided that you no longer need to go to a store to do the port in and can now do it via SMS.

I tested it yesterday and like clockwork my number got ported to Telkom @ 19:30 last night from Cellc.

1. Rica a new Telkom prepaid staterpack
2. SMS from the number you want to port. PORTME#ID number#ICCD to 0811607678

The ICCD number is the long simcard number starting with 892.

Have you tried to resubmit your port request? Maybe the donor network reject your port request.

I had the same problem.
Resubmitted - No luck
Called in - No luck

Ended up going into a Telkom store and the consultant showed me that all he had to do was click one button.
The port order was pending acceptance.

I tried the SMS route but it is not as straightforward as Telkom would like you to believe.

After I received no confirmation from Telkom on my port request, an agent on Telkom's webchat informed me that I need to go to a Telkom shop since my Telkom SIM was already activated and the SMS port request cannot initiate a port to an 'active' contract Telkom SIM. I find this tough to believe though...
