Telkom SMS

Got the following SMS:

"The telkom account is over the credit limit of R300.00. The overdue account is R199.12. Please make a payment urgently to bring account below its limit and inform Telkom to avoid full suspension. Violet 0117479006"

Now, it's so badly written that I would normally ignore it, plus I know the account has like R3k credit, but this is Telkom, and they are useless.

Telkom rep, is this real?

That SMS does looks very suspect, however I don't see that they've provided any payment details, unless they bargain on the victim phoning them for those details.

I'd recommend that you rather check your account balance online or call the official Telkom channel at 10210 to do an enquiry about your account status. This is just to make sure that there is no sudden billing error from Telkom's side.
