Anyone else experiencing problems with Telkom's SMTP server:

"Recipient address rejected: Policy rejection 559 Blacklisted due to illegal HELO or SpamTrap"

Happening with ALL email addresses I'm trying to send to !

Hehehehehe

SAIX was allowing spam to pass through their SMTP server(s), now these IP's have been blacklisted....

Was bound to happen, what with the volume of spam coming out of it...

Well it would then appear that my IP was blacklisted and I wasn't spamming anyone !

I recieved the exact error and googled it and clicked on this link. What can we do about it??? It happens on mweb, siax and mabee other smtp servers too. I emailed webafrica and mweb about it a few times and it still happens

I had this problem previously, and could not reach anybody within TelkomSA with enough braincells to explain.

The problem seems that they are doing some lame spam checking to prevent people from sending spam via their SMPT servers. Unfortunately this seems to block all mail from such an IP for around 24 hours.

If you are the unlucky one to get that IP after an (illegal) IP reset session, it is tough for you.

Telkom seriously lacks some brains within their SMTP server management section.

Try your ISP - maybe.

Try the Star, Beeld and whichever other journo you can lay your hands on.

Then try Hellopeter.

Then try ICASA - they might wake up in a month or 2

The problem is that there is no line of intelligent communication to resolve such a problem within Telkom.

When I previously complained, I was curtly told that there are no server managers as the servers are running by themselves.
