I have a Telkom Soft Cap account and P2P is completely blocked. I can't even update Diablo 3.

Is this normal? I would have expected this on uncapped, but I have a capped account, and I've hardly used any of my data allocation.

Are capped accounts not supposed to be unshaped? Or at least only shaped during business hours?

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

during 1AM to 7AM things should be unblocked. And yes, I agree, that it is a capped account and should be unshaped all the time.

Yes, I noticed in those hours it gets "unlocked", but only works at a fraction of my line speed. :(

That's not good enough to keep me with Telkom. If it was completely unshaped between 12:00am and 7:00am, I wouldn't be cancelling. It's unreasonable to block or even shape P2P outside of business hours.

Use a VPN. I noticed this too, torrents would be dead, as soon as I activate the VPN they go full speed.

Are there any good free one's available? Would be pointless for me to pay R200pm for one if I only have a 4Mb line.

Well... It works in that it unblocks P2P, but it's VERY slow for me. Will see if it's any better during Night Surfer.

Either way, I'm not going to battle with it since it's probably against TK's terms anyway. I'm taking back the hardware tomorrow, and making the cancellation official. Not happy about it, but still feel like I'm dodging a bullet in doing so.

What? Using the VPN?

I get 30Mbps on my frootvpn account using OpenVPN.

You sure your line is not having issues?

My line is perfect. No issues on Afrihost, Vox or WA. I think there's actually something wrong with the actual Telkom Soft Cap data account, but getting Telkom to listen to me and perhaps issue me with an alternative test account has been a nightmare to say the least.

This is why I want out while I still can. :(

Please take a look at the below Glasnost tests I ran:

They tell me this is normal, so I should either accept it or cancel. They say they can do nothing to help. :wtf:

Not only softcap. My uncapped sucks as well. Reading between the lines on the forum. I think Telkom got capacity problems. Blocking p2p to cope with other services. When I switch to My other account with VOX its flying.
