SAIX - The South African Internet Exchange
Telkom's SAIX is South Africa's largest Internet Access Provider and
owns the largest IP backbone infrastructure connecting South Africa to
the world.
SAIX is the wholesale provider of raw Tier 1 Internet connectivity to
corporate and ISP companies; it specialises in the access, conveyance
and delivery of international, national long-distance and local IP
traffic through South Africa's largest and most resilient IP backbone.

national/international (providing a split of 25% international/75%
national) and international-only access service categories;
* Dedicated access services are available in increments of 64
kb/s up to 1920 kb/s. A 34 Mb/s solution is also available;
* SAIX dial-up access services are available as analogue dial
and ISDN dial;
* The extensive national PoP infrastructure provided by SAIX
(more than 99 PoPs), enables dial-up users to connect to the Internet
while paying only local telephone call charges;
* PoPs are monitored on a 24 hour, 7 days a week basis to ensure
that when pre-determined utilisation levels are reached, they can be
upgraded;
* A centralised customer support centre provides 24 hour, 7 days
a week support to ISP and corporate customers;
* Local peering is in place with other major South African
access providers. These local peering links are also continuously
monitored and upgraded when pre-determined utilisation figures are
reached;
