So I have been having endless hassles with my ADSL 4Mbps and so I test often to check if it is the usual 1.8/1.9 and although the upload is constant 520/530 I tested twice and it shot to 10Mbps but then reduced to the original 4.8 4.9 Mbps.

I keep getting max for my area is 4Mbps then why would it shoot to 10Mbps if the facility isn't "capable"

Today my 384 line shot to 704 KB download for about a second. Don't know if its utorrent messing around or if telkoms doing some sort of stress testing on their network.

Try testing to another server. I'm on TI and when testing to MTN Business I get +- 5.3 Mbps download and the graph is very smooth and constant. On the other hand, peculiarly enough, if I test to the Telkom server it shows less than 2 Mbps. Downloads prove that my download speed is indeed close to 6 Mbps and very consistent.
