So i logged a fault with telkom a few days ago. Experiencing very bad latency issues. So a "technician" comes over today and asks whats the problem. So i say "latency issues". He turns around and asks me simply "whats that?" :wtf: LOL Neway after i say "My pings are very high" thinking he would understand this. He again asks me "whats that?" im confused now and dont know how to explain it. So i say "i have lag". Still confused he asks "do you mean your connection speed?" :wtf: I give up and say "Yeah. Do what you can."

You shouldn't be surprised that a technician who handles physical line issues doesn't know what latency is. That's a software term, and of course not all Telkom technicians know what it is (certainly not worth posting arbitrarily on mybb about if you ask me). If he doesn't know what "latency" is, then he probably wont know what "ping" or "lag" are either, because SURPRISE SURPRISE, he's not a gamer. You could have tried using the terms 'packet loss', or if that didn't work, then 'congestion' or 'erratic / unstable speeds'

so true... u cant expect a line technician to know what ur speaking about. I mean there are many different types of technicians out there... so next time maybe try speaking ENGLISH!

Next time, explain to the technician in simple terms what problems you are experiencing. Every now and then you will find a highly skilled technician who understands the problem, but not what the client is trying to describe.

Lmao.

Luckily I've had a technician that actually knows what was potting helped me out before.
