Telkom strike: Will ADSL go down?

Just read that the next wave of strikes is upon is, this time it's the Telkom workers:

Will this have any impact on the ADSL network?

Unless there are acts of sabotage, then existing customers should not be affected.

When (if) they do go on strike, do not expect any new installations or faults to be repaired...

Initially this was limited to one section (business voice and data systems), which excludes ADSL, but it appears it has been widened to include all unions' members.

To be honest, with all the issues I have had in the last 6 months, I doubt a strike will make much difference.

I can imagine some Telkom workers/techs shutting an exchange down and walking away, leaving users in the surrounding area with... The same amount of internet they started out with*

My line is down for three weeks already. When I enquire about progress on their side, they told me twice already that it is fixed and closed. I have three reference numbers already.
The go slow strike was confirmed by the call centre.

My line is now down in the second week, I have so far 2 reference number, maybe next week I'll get also the third one.

I am quite surprised that people's lines are down. My line went down on a Friday afternoon, I phoned Telkom ADSL and the guy picked up (This is at 10.30PM on a Friday) and it was resolved quickly and easily.

Well, I upgraded to a 4MB line about 3 weeks ago, and noticed that my router was only syncing at 1.5 Mbps. I lodged a complaint via SAOL. They in turn logged a fault report with Telkom. A couple of days later, Telkom called me saying they would fix the problem, but they never did. SAOL again reported the fault to Telkom this week, and they called me today saying that I would have to wait indefinitely because of the Telkom strike!!!

The strike action is localised to Gauteng only so the rest of the country should not feel any impact. When it will be over we can only guesse.
