Just a note that may get a bit of attention if i open it up. I have 4 meg line with telkom with Openweb being my ISP. Strange thing is when i tried to migrate my line to Afrihost telkom refused because i have a telkom email adress which has nothing to do wit the line as such. I have been told that Telkom is using all kinds of excuses so as to hold onto their customers. Any light on this subject ???

Whoever told you that is speaking BS. They cannot prevent your move, but you could lose your telkomsa email address unless you are willing to pay about R20/m for it.

Telkom giving you 25% discount if u stay with them for 12 Months... And yes Telkom sucks...

I've being trying to a telkom line for last 2 months and the telkom pole runs outside my door and they stay they got not infrastructure... If someone steals the cable, then they can say they have no infrastructure.. :)...

Think i need to email the telkom CEO again..

You can't move your DSL line if you have a Telkom ISP account, you need to cancel that first. I also tried, but decided in the end to keep line with Telkom because of email address etc. Bit of a pity, but it seems they have their reasons.

I think they mean by 'no infrastruture' that there are no ports available at present. (their choice of words are a bit funny, but that's exactly what happened to me, I had to wait for an open port, whilst the 'infrastucture' was not there ... hehehe)

I actually do not have any account with Telkom except the email which is a telkomsa.net account. Strange thing is i migrated to Webafrica 3 years ago with no hassle and then when i decided i wanted to try Afrihost i was told to first migrate back to telkom from Webafrica and then to apply to migrate to Afrihost. I did what they said and once i was back with telkom they suddenly said i cannot migrate to Afrihost because i have a telkom email adress. That is BS because i get an account for R150.00 a year for the email adress which has nothing to do with the ADSL side of things. And NO i do not have any contract with telkom anymore as my ADSL line has been in use for the past 6 to 8 years. One big question is how did i migrate to Webafrica in the first place with no hassles. Well needless as DanC did i decided to stay with telkom.

Why are you still using an ISP email account? Why not get rid of it & unshackle yourself. It's actually very easy to migrate to say gmail & eventually get rid of the isp one.

Telkom sucks!!!

Check this link out... Its a 2007 article. In 2013, my are still has max line speed of 4Mbps

Some of us will gladly learn to live with the lack of a kidney for a 4mbps line ..
