So, we had a storm pass by on the 3rd/4th. Next morning I see my net is down.
Logged a call and waited for the guy to come around to my place.
Finally on the 9th the guy just shows up, no call no nothing. Luckily I was home that day.
So the guy comes, asks a few questions. I run speedtest, and I show him that my 10 meg line barely registers any form of speed and connection. I tell him that even when connecting my phone directly I am unable to make calls, either don't even get a dial tone or calls just drop after a few seconds.
Guy, calls a lady. She checks a few things and they both agree it is a grounding problem.
Nice, so we have a problem, now just to fix it.
I ask the tech guy how difficult it is to fix such a fault, "easy fix" the guy said.
Nice, by all accounts it take that as a "Ill be up and running by the end of the week"
So the guy leaves to test where the fault is. And that's it. Never heard from him again...NEVER!
Only after calling the call centre on Friday, did he phone me.
First thing he asks is "Your net still down?" WTF? why wouldnt it?
The guy says he tested the DB board and all seems fine.
SOooo you just leave it at that? My line will just magically fix it self....
He then says that one of the polls has a tree grow all around it, or something like that and he thinks the problem most likely will be there and he has to log a call to get it trimmed...why the **** didn't you do that in the days prior...
Am I being unreasonable thinking that this should have been dealt with?

Must say it seems like Telkom/Openserve have taken a sharp nosedive where their service delivery is concerned.

Previously when I needed their help, the technician usually rocked up within 2 days - even on a Sunday.

Now they just ignore your reported faulty line for weeks on end without any communication whatsoever.

Was it an Openserve tech or one of their contractors? Telkom/Openserve usually have better manners than that and will usually think of a better excuse to run away than just disappearing like that.

He was a Openserve technician, shirt and vehicle included.
My calls to his cell keeps being "ended" just after connecting...
But have some good news but even more worst/bad news.
Got a hold of one of the other tech guys, unfortunately he was of no help, but understandably so as they don't know what cases the other guys have assigned to them. But he confirmed that if the fault doesn't get resolved in April, it will definitely be resolved in May.
I really hope he meant May 2018 and not May 2020.

I made a joke to my wife about this only getting fixed at the end of April, seems the joke's on me.
House now pretty entertainment-less as I cancelled dstv long long ago....

Think ill drive down to there local office tomorrow and have a chat with the supervisor.
A bit of client service goes a long way.
It doesn't take a lot of time to pick up the phone and informing the client as to what is going on.
"good day mr so-and-so"
"I am still working on the problem" or "I am waiting on replacement parts" or "fixing your **** fault isn't high on my list of things to do"

Communication, it goes a long way and doesn't take up a lot of their time, but that's asking too much
