Telkom Uncapped ADSL fair usage policy

Hi,

Have any one else on this forum ever been rate limited by Telkom due to their fair usage policy?
I have a 4Mbps uncapped account with Telkom and was dropped to a 35kbps line this month because they say I reached my limit. So it would seem that you have a 250gb limit per month on Telkom Uncapped accounts?

Anyone else experience on this?

Is it not less then 250gig? I was under the impression that the cap is somewhere close to 150gb?
 
That is why I am asking I have been ave 150Gb per month cause I stream all my movies and all my sport so I don't have to make DSTV any richer but now this month I downloaded Grey's Anatomy S1 - S10 as well for my wife and now on 250Gb I was limited.

I'm guessing you didn't make use of Nightsurfer hours (00:00 - 07:00) to download Grey's, most TI 4MB uncapped users can achieve 400GB/mth with judicious use of Nightsurfer.
 
I'm averaging around 300GB per month. I schedule my non urgent downloads during the night surfer slot and my usage bar has never been over half a green far.
 
OK so you guys suggests I should only do downloads between 0:00 and 7:00 and my normal SkySport and Popcorntime still during the day then I should be able to reach 300GB per month or so? I will give it a shot next month.

This works for me. All updates and downloads run between 00:00 and 07:00 like you said.
Using a 4mb line I stream my sport over plex and stream all other movies and series using Kodi. Have not been capped since 2014 when I still had a 2mb line.
 
Last month I got throttled at about 310gb. Using Telkom Internet @ 4Mb. Torrents set to full speed between 11pm and 6am. So far this month I'm standing on 301gb and not throttled yet.

Same experience. 250GB around the 15th of July and throttled down to 35kbps. I line up my downloads to start after 10pm but still get throttled. I guess my family streaming during the day does not help at all.

10pm??? Night surfer starts at midnight.

I think those two hours until night surfer starts at midnight are what's heavily contributing towards getting throttled.

It would be nice to have a definitive answer on capping thresholds though.
 
When I just got mine I got capped/throttled at about 130 - 150Gb.

Then I got some advice from a fellow forumite to schedule my downlaods between 00:00 and 06:00.

Now I am doing like 500Gb no problem.

2hours everyday for 15 days = getting shaped to death. I will try line them up at midnight and see if there is a difference next month.

How do you use plex for sport? A guide would be greatly appreciated..
 
I have also been throttled. Quick question... Does weekend downloads count toward your usage or not?
