I've finally had enough of 384 and convinced myself to upgrade do D03 (4mbps)

From reading a few posts thought it would be pretty easy.

Call1: Get through to the helpdesk where the automatic system tries to redirect you. First thing I hear is "you did not press a no" and it goes into a loop! Its not even asking me to press a number!!

Call2: Same thing happens

Call3: get through to a human...who puts the phone down on me.

Call4: get through to someone and tell them I want to upgrade my TI 384k 5GB package to Do3.

Telkom:Ehhhhh....have you applied for ADSL?
Me: no - I want to upgrade to the Do3 package.
Telkom: eishhh - have you cancelled your line
Me: NO!!! I want to upgrade my TI 384k 5GB package to Do3.
Telkom: hold on.....3 mins later. Ok - do you want to apply for Do1
Me: Click

Oh FFS!!!!!!!! How difficult can this be!!!! I need a drink!!!:mad::mad:

I had to transfer my ADSL circuit to my ISP, but Telkom, for some reason, decided to also downgrade me from Closer 2 to Closer 1. Of course, I only realised this after receiving my bill for the previous month!

In the meantime, I had made 2 long distance calls (national) after 7pm. One of the calls lasted over 50mins while the other one was about 30mins. With Closer 2, both of those calls would have been free, but with Closer 1 they are not. I can't see why I should have to pay for those calls.

It is almost as if Telkom were trying to be spiteful - "you take business away from us, now we will make you pay". Then again, maybe it is just plain incompetence. :(

I live fairly close to a Telkom store so I usually just pop in there when I need things done. They're just as bad as the people over the phone but at least you can draw pictures and point at things to make 100% they understand you.

I had the Closer package, before Do broadband was introduced, and when I wanted to change to Do3 they simply could not understand why I wanted Do3 as opposed to Do1, "1GB is all you'll ever need!".

Tried my luck again. Phoned and got through to a someone who knows what they are going. 5 mins on the phone and order complete. Hopefully when I get home its at 4mbps.

One thing the lady on the phone said is there's no 4mbps service offering, its FROM 1mbps UP TO 4mbps. Very sneeky!
