Hi there

I'm having this issue where my line is just degrading. Telephone making a hum. I changed the filters even had the adsl on it's own without telephone connected and the same for the telephone line had it on it's own. My line can only handle 3mb but still not happy as even on 3mb it will drop sometimes and since yesterday it's even degraded somem ore. Now i can't even handle 2mb.

I'm in Lynnwoodridge Petoria area. I just want this to stop and I don't know what to do with telkom so we decided to as Neotel what fiber will cost us and i must say not much more than Telkom if you take a business account with static ip, reliability and telkom fees i think that's the only option to go butt it will only be here by march next year due to them having to get authorization from municipality and so on. That's ok for now as I know when we get that all our troubles will be gone.
Anyway how can i get telkom to solve this once and for all. We had many technicians came to our offices and all they say is our noise is to high and can't go over 3mb. last year we had 6mb so I don't understand. I mean getting only 3mb and disconnecting as much as we do and also having to drop it to even 2mb I'm like WTF. Seems like Telkom is a no go for ADSL and Telephones here. I'm also thinking of doing voip here as then I can get away from telkom completely.

So please advice me what to do with Telkom.

Government doesn't know what morals or support is...

Anyway. A hum would be a noisy line. Call a telkom rep to check it out properly. It could be interference from a power line or something. make sure you use the same referance number each time.

You could also be a bit of a distance form the exchange which would cause issues.

Voip is a no go unless you hop onto a 3G connection or have fiber. we have been looking down this route lately and have been looking at getting a telkom mobile sim or two as our main connection for voip with an adsl backup. We are literally 100m for a tower so pretty decent speeds and consistency for us.

Yes. I think voip over fiber is like the best option. Now telkom actually came here and I told the technician they must fix it I want 4mbps and nothing slower. But they said they had a cable break and now they busy implementing fiber. I won't take the technicians word for it but I also don't want to go neotel fiber when telkom fiber is coming to my area soon.
