Telkom using Xbox 360 as IPTV set-top box?

This rumour has been around for a while and in an international Xbox conference the Telkom logo was displayed prominently....

With Telkom now selling Xbox 360's it is looking more likely.

So this means that if you own a xbox and telkom brings out iptv you wont need a set-top box, you can just use ur xbox.

surely that would make telkom too technologically savvy. which seems highly unlikely.

Wow, yeah, when you look at the "Several of the worlds leading service providers..." link in the right hand bottom of mediaroom, it shows telkom is trailing it... wow, I wonder how you participate in this trail....

Nice find :)

errmm can somebody educate me to the benefits of this ?, i mean i have DSTV so why would i wanna blow my internet cap on downloading tv through my xbox at slow speeds and make the one company i hate with a passion even richer?

It will be uncapped and it will be very fast. You just stream the video. And the quality is excellent.

on http://www.microsoftmediaroom.com/# check lower right box, click on it and you will see the Telkom logo.

I also had an interesting thing happen to me last night with my XBOX, had an ADSL link, but no PPOE session in progress (ie no access to internet from my PC) but the XBOX was still able to get through to Live!

Looks to be a good benefit if it comes in a ta reasonable price and the quality is good.
