Hope someone knows and can help me :)

I'm in the UK and organised ADSL for my folks in PE - everything seems to have gone through ok except my mom says she got a sms from telkom asking for her to verify her adsl.

I will be going there mid march for a holiday and will be bringing them a laptop and a router - I was hoping that the line would be active on my arrival but it seems it needs to be verified first so, short of pestering some mates to go to my folks with a laptop and router and verify the adsl:

1: will it be ok if I leave it and verify it when I arrive there?
2: will the verify process expire before I arrive?
3: if I am able to verify when I arrive, is it a quick process and then the line is instantly active after the verify?

I really don't want to arrive, verify, then have issues for the 2 weeks I'm there as I need to train my folks how to use the internet etc so need all the time I can get

I'd rather avoid paying telkom to send an engineer out to do this.

This is probably just the installation verification.
You or your parents would need to go to the following link: www.telkom.co.za/verifyadsl
You will be prompt to enter the order number and line number.
It can take up to 30 minutes for the verification to take effect but normally happens almost instantly.

Note that if you do this when coming to PE, you'll need to use the Telkom guest account details as normal ISP accounts won't sync before verification:

Username: guest@telkomadsl
Password: guest

/edit Ruben beat me to it with more info

Line verification means you opted for the self-install option. This means Telkom does everything on their side and you just plug in the router and go through their verification process (you have to visit their website, search the forums for the link and verify the page is working) Once done it should be more or less 30 minutes before you can use your ADSL line.

I suggest you get a friend to pop on over to your mom's place and verify the line quick. Telkom just LOVES ****ing around and if a techie sees an open port he might be tempted to plug in someone else (seen it happen before)
