Telkom voice only line installation

Hello

Just relocated from the UK to Cape Town and I'm in the process of installing a telephone line. At least I hope I am... I ordered the line and payed the deposit. I've been waiting now 2 weeks for any contact so I dropped by Telkom shop/centre and asked what's the deal and apparently "someone will come on Friday", a day from now. I haven't received sms or any other communication from Telkom. So my question is if I should expect any? For example like my account or phone number info, a letter maybe? Could someone point me to some sticky note where the steps of this "process" are described? This lack of information is very foreign to me and is making me nervous...
