Hey all,
I couldn't find a recent thread regarding this, but on Saturday Telkom came over and installed a voip-based service to run over wimax.
They brought a Siemens Gigaset device that sits just after the IDU and provides for 2 standard analog telephones to connect to the unit.
I'm impressed with the voice quality, definitely on par with Skype, and although its only been 2 days seems very reliable with no dropped calls.
This looks like a very viable alternative to the constant copper theft. The only limitation is on the data side with the 512kbps speed.
Well done to Telkom for providing this service. My place is looking more and more like a command centre, which i like
