Hi guys.

We have about 5 branches we want to connect via VPN lite. We have configured the first two sites and everything seems to be working fine (I can ping all IP's on the remote LAN, our web server can be accessed from the remote site no issues). The problem is, when we want to access the remote shared resources eg. \\10.0.2.3 in the network bar it gives an error like "Check spelling of name. Cannot access resource...".
As mentioned before ping works fine to this remote server. The remote machine is a Windows XP Pro box and we are trying to access it using XP, Windows 7 and Win 8 pc's. The specific server (10.0.2.3) can be accessed by all pc's on the remote LAN.

I would appreciate any assistance or even a resource we can use to solve the issue (url). Thanks guys.

Is it not a firewalling issue? turn both firewalls off and test again. You might need to create rules for the other networks.

Sounds like there is a firewall blocking remote file sharing!

This might be due to the firewall/router at the remote site or if Telkom's VPN lite has some sort of
firewall which blocks remote file sharing.

I use eleNet from elephantvpn to connect my office and home PC/media center. With eleNet
you can easily configure the firewall for your virtual network.

Just a quick note to say that disabling the firewall worked. We have some other issues as well, but at least we know where to start now... Thanks guys. Really appreciate your help.

Does anybody know how to create a Windows Firewall exception for this to work. The Telkom support line says that the firewall should be disabled and remain so for this to work. What would the risk be should the firewalls remain off?
