"Telkom's submission states further that capping has become a worldwide trend and has become the rule rather than the exception."

With the current ICASA inquiry going on and what Telkoms saying that capping in the back of my mind, I was sitting around in an IRC chatroom when the following rolled past my eyes... Appartently they were not lying... er... if you ignore the numbers...

At least we're not the only one's that are capped (Or is it teased)

So what did you have to say about all of this? I see no posts about SA - or where you afraid of being banned (like the guy in the off topic section) for 'scaring' everyone :)

and your point is? it's known that round the world lots of ISPs have caps. I have a mate in the UK if he even runs P2P he gets an email warning him about it. The here that makes it worse is
a) There is no other choice, because telkom is a monopoly
b) Pricing

ppl from abroad always laugh at what we have, it truly is a baby step in the evolution of broadband. Telkom is just perpetuating it.. like any fortunate, taxpayer-paid-for-monopoly would.. no skill involved, just blind greed.

And now with the Advertising Authority's ruling that anythings that's 'always
on' can be considered broadband, we'll soon see 56k broadband from Telkom -for the 'beginner' household.

Where other countries go forward and offer their 512kbps ADSL for cheap and more expensive for 1Mbps/1.5/2, we go backwards.

It just makes me sick.

Maybee the Advertising Authority should stick to adverts and not techologies that it knows nothing about. Damn man - the minimum requirements for broadband is simultaneous up and down transmissions, and more than one of these on the same connection. Damn idiots.

LOL

PRESS RELEASE

ASA not connected to Dr Rath’s Health Foundation

A print advertisement placed by Dr Rath’s Health Foundation with the headline “No censorship of life-saving natural health information!” has caused confusion among members of the public who are inundating the ASA with calls wanting advice about HIV/AIDS treatment. The ASA notes that in the advertisement, consumers have been directed to send their opinions to its president, Mervyn King. The ASA would like to emphasise that it has no link whatsoever with the advertiser and that the ASA’s name was used without permission. The ASA acts as an independent arbitrator in resolving disputes between parties.

A previous advertisement placed by Dr Rath has resulted in complaints to the ASA from consumers as well as the Treatment Action Campaign (TAC), an organization campaigning for the use of anti-retrovirals. This advertisement is headed “Why should South Africans continue to be poisoned with AZT”. The complainants objected that the advertisement deliberately misleads consumers about the use of zidovudine (AZT), nevarapine (NVP) and exaggerates the efficacy of multivitamins in treating HIV/AIDS.

The ASA is currently investigating this matter and will issue a ruling once a fair and objective decision has been made.

I receive monthly a German Computer Magazin. There is a list with prices for DSL. My Scanner is unfortunately too small, but I will try to take a picture and post it here. You guys will be surprised. Just to say...CAP IS OUT!!!
