Hi there!
I have an issue and I'm hoping someone can explain why it happened:
I started using Telkom Uncapped since October this year. Everything was working good until they throttled me. I decided to move my DSL line/service over to WebAfrica. This I did on Tuesday the 17th of this month. Went good for a few days and exactly at 12pm on Monday the 23rd the service went down. I phoned WebAfrica and they confirmed that everything is good and syncing on their side. The same answer was given by Telkom when I phoned them.
I logged into my modem and checked that my WebAfrica acount's username and password is still correctly entered - which it was. Nothing I did worked. I could not get my internet service up and running again. I even went as far as signing up with another ISP just to get different account details and even that did not work. My modem (TP-Link W8970) has an LED showing if my service is running or not. The ADSL light is working, but not the SERVICE light.
Anyway, so I took my modem to my parents' house and connected it up and voila! - The service LED is working. So, this means there is nothing wrong with my account credentials and my modem is not faulty. This indicates that my TELKOM line has a fault.
My question is - How does something like this happen? Why is the ADSL line active, but the internet part is not working? Did it happen, because I moved over to WebAfrica? This resulted me in phoning Telkom again to have a technician come out to my house to fix it. (Which I'm still waiting for to happen)
it would be nice to know the reason for future issues....
