Hi

I currently have access to a Telkom wifi hot spot in my area, Outside my home the signal is strong and test speeds are up 5mbps. The problem lies inside my house the signal dies... How do I transfer that lovely signal inside my house... outdoor antenna maybe.

thank you

I would say a PC, with one of those Wi-Fi Cards that has a port for a Wi-Fi antenna, then maybe extend that cable. But it probably has a limitation in terms of losses on the cable.

Out of interest, would it be possible to use a Wi-Fi repeater on a public Wi-Fi hotspot?

looked up the repeater option , not viable, must be setup with you existing router... Usb wifi antenna might work and and change the secondary device mac address but freedom of mobility inside the house , will be an issue using a laptop...

When you access the signal outside your house, is this with a smartphone using telkom ekom SIM card? Or laptop using its onboard WiFi? It would be best to have a 2.4ghz radio outside the house yes. I ask about the SIM as in the past I have learnt that the free data the give to a number can only be used with that SIM card meaning the SIM will have authenticate before one can use the WiFi

I have a repeater at home and as far as I remember (I set it up a long time ago) there is no additional setting done on the source router, the issue will probably be the authentication, as it wont take a SIM so can't use EAP-SIM, and you probably wont be able to register the MAC address since the system will detect the device as a repeater.

Your only hope is the WiFi antenna.

C'mon, you're getting free Wi-Fi, somethings gotta give, let it be mobility..

Telkom allows for a secondary device you will need to link the wifi device mac address to you telkom account...

I dont think you will be able to share it, thats the problem. It will essentially only be a connection for a single device i.e. Laptop or PC (whichever MAC address you register)

ok, so I got myself a totolink usb wifi antenna, One line inside the house , strength poor but 26mbps connection, speed test between 4 and 5mbps .. not bad

Hi guys

I'm on Telkom wifi and receive 10GB every time I purchase a 1GB data bundle. There are no hotspots where I live but however there are a few in N1 City mall.

I work in a hospital and we have wifi access there but only limited to MWEB, Always on and VAST. My question is:
Is it possible for Telkom to link up with the wifi at the hospital and if yes....who should one contact to go about something like that?
