Hi,
I'm renting a house where a WiMAX installation is already setup.
It has the normal (I think) Telkom Alvarion BreezeMAX hardware. How/where do I setup my ISP username/password on this device. I assigned myself a static IP on the devices subnet, but could so far only login with the "installer" pwd "installer" user and can find no page to setup my ISP details. The pages that I can get to at least shows that it has a fairly strong active WiMAX connection. Also, how do I link this thing to my Dovado AP. Do I need to specify any DNS stuff?
Thanks
Hendrik

You dont (cant) enter your ISP details onto the Alvarion IDU. You have to either setup a PPPoE connection on your router that connects to the Alvarion device, or if you do not have a separate router you must setup a PPPoE connection in windows and connect directly through that connection.
There is nothing on the Alvarion that you need to change ever.

You need to connect your Wimax CPE to a broadband router like the Linksys WRT54GL that can make PPPOE connections. A Dovado UMR router can't do this as it does not do PPPOE.

Ahhh ... ok, now I get it. Thanks guys, much appreciated.

One more question ... will the Billion 7404VGO VOIP ADSL2+ router work for this?

No, an ADSL router will not work as this is Wimax, not ADSL. You need a broadband router, not an ADSL router.

I recommend the Linksys WRT54GL.

So you're going to spend more money on the wrong device and hack it to work? Hello? Just by a WRT54GL like the man says.

I think he probably has a Billion already, so the hack might be worth a try to save some cash.

Yeah, sorry, I probably should have mentioned that I have the Billion already ... ;)

Will let you know how successful it was, once I have actually moved into this new place ...

Thanks for all the help

OK, I'm a happy chappy ... replying now connected wirelessly to the 7404VGO (with the hack applied) which is connected to the WiMAX IDU ... using FNB Connect as an ISP ...

Thanks again ...
