Telkom wireless phone?

Hi,

a friend lives in Rooiwal just north of Pretoria - it is predominantly an area of plots.

The Telkom cables are stolen with such regularity that Telkom is no longer replacing them.

Telkom now "promised" to install a "radio based telephone system" in the area.

Does somebody know anything about such a system?

Would it be able to supply ADSL?

It will be wcdma, capable of 3G facilities, ADSL. See here:

Just pray it's not the normal Dect technology they use in rural areas.

Telkom are not deploying any more DECT systems. All new installations will be wcdma or e-mgw (in exceptional cases).
