omfs, I have been trying to obtain the "Value Added Software" which is supposedly available with the telskuminternet prolog account. Here follows my escapades of wading thru the telskum network of nohelp desk / customer uncare ...

ok, so I phone 0800 237 500 as stipulated on the following page http://www.telkom.co.za/adsl/support2.jsp. After waiting and listening to that lovely music I eventually get to a service representative. I explain what I want and get told to phone ...

0800 500 200 - some more music, another service representative and guess what ... yep another number. This is apparently the number to phone to get the download key ...

Ok, so up to this point I'm still pretty calm ( NOT ), this is telskum and what can you expect ... world class? So I delay the whole ordeal by a couple of days - cooling off period required.

0860 100 553 ( technical support ) - after being on hold for a *very* long time I get yet another service representative. Guess what ... he tries to give me another number. OMFG, wtf is it with telskum. Oh, but wait, what number does he give ... 0800 237 500. The very first number I phoned! I told him to forget it. After being put on hold, he said he would get back to me after being on the phone for 45 mins ( mostly hold )

/me waits

Surprise, the service rep phones me. I get told that the correct number to phone is ...

0800 456 786. ( special service non voice query ) Ok, so now I speak to a lady who tells me that .... I HAVE THE WRONG NUMBER! and the correct number to phone is 0800 500 200, but I must speak to xxxx. So, off I go and dial ...

0800 500 200 ( business integration services ). After waiting and waiting and waiting, I eventually get a service representative. I ask to speak to xxxx.

Mailbox voice message "I'm sorry, but the mailbox for "xxxx" is full. Please try again. Thank you. Good bye."
*beep* *beep* - disconnected after being on hold forever.

hmmm, methinks xxxx == /dev/null! Ok, so not one to give up easily as I'm sure you have already ascertained, I decide to phone the number again ...

0800 500 200 ( business integration services ). This time I explain my requirement and am told to phone 0860 100 553 ( technical support ), which I am currently refusing to do. I have just spoken to a supervisor,

*off topic
the supervisor then tells the service representative that the reason I wanted to speak to the supervisor was because I said she was rude to me? What gives? Why the bs to the poor service representative?

Anyways, they then got someone from 0860 100 553 on the line with me who informed me that the Norton should be on the CD provided during installation! Now why could someone not tell me this when I first phoned and not three and a half hours later, 5 different numbers and a *lot* of crappy elevator music?

Uvi ( the chap who helped me ) - we need more ppl like you in telkom. Maybe then we'll have a decent communications provider. 2 mins on the phone with you and problem solved.

Now to try and get my 5MB webspace - according to some is a diff number. Man, I think I'm going to wait a long time before trying to get this. Prolly find it's on my CD which came with my installation.

Telskum - that's almost four hours productivity which I have lost. Who covers this cost? This is not the first time I have lost money thanks to you. I think in future I'm going to keep a detailed log ( time/service rep name/number ) and invoice you my chargeout rate!

If I don't laugh, I'll cry...so here goes...LOL

Been there.....done that....absolutely refused the T-shirt.

Telkom's customer support is completely and utterly shocking. The same thing has happened to me twice. I have found that having patience actually doesn't get you anywhere with Telkom. Only when you lose it do you get results.

I have also decided to start logging all my problems with Telkom - including names, reference numbers, etc. And then I want Mr White to personally respond to why we should have to put up with such total incompetence. As you say, it's lost productivity. Time is money and Telkom is wasting our time.

Hi
I just had my ADSL for a week now and when setting it up I somehow got to the number 0800 375 375. The call gets answered immediately and some one with brains actually helped me. Try the number above, perhaps it is more succesfull. I realised that the normal internet access support people really want to help you although they do not have a clue what ADSL is about. So once you get past them to the ADSL support things gets better.
