Hi, I am having an endless problem since I moved from Pietermaritzburg TO Cape Town WITH Telkom.
Background - I had a line and adsl managed by Afrihost which I had asked to migrate to Telkom.
Once that was done I asked that my telephone line be relocated as part of the moving process.
The Telkom guy installed the line and left. However I can only make calls & use ADSL.
When Anyone tries to call me it says line number does not exist and I cannot get line with higher speed(as this area supports 20- compared to the 10 in Pietermaritzburg )

I've tried several times to phone Telkom with various responses:
1) I have not paid my bill - its debit order(though they have not charged me ADSL LINE COST THIS MONTH)- solved by speaking with telkom sales rather than technical advisors
2) they say my number is linked to some other dude
3) number rejected

Any one else had similar experience , howd you solve

Order a new line and ADSL and cancel the current one. If you do it right there should be no extra cost.

TELKOM probably did not retain your number hence no one can get through to you, dial 101999 on your telephone to display your number

I was calling the no that appeared when I dialled out from landline, which also corresponded to no 101999, they would never have been able to retain Pietermaritzburg no as different dialling code.

But how long would it take to get that done? 30 days notice to cancel
