Just got an Important ISP notice from Telkom telling me about their accelerator program for dialup. Looks like it performs compression between them as an ISP and your PC which is where the acceleration comes from.

Question: Do all ISPs implement optional compression like this and would an accelerator like this work the same with ABSA (or other) dialup? i.e. is it a generic compression algorithm that's established during initial handshake between you and the ISP?

I ran out of bandwidth last month and had to switch to dialup for last 3 days and looks like I'll outrun my 3Gb again this month.

I'd also like to hear from anybody else who is outrunning their 3Gb per month by just a few day and find out what they do about it? Buy another 3Gb or switch to dialup?

I've downgraded from 512 to 192 for speed and have not noticed any change in speed yet although the speed reduction should have taken place 3 days ago. If anything the service is slightly faster.

Thanks.
